You studied marketing at Birmingham City University, why did you choose this degree?
I think my interest in marketing stemmed from studying psychology where I started to learn more about consumer behaviour and why people make certain decisions. This is so applicable to the study of marketing as all creative decisions are based on who we are targeting and why. I’ve also always loved working in a team and being able to bounce ideas off other people in order to gain creative inspiration.
What’s your favourite thing about working on events?
The best thing about working on events is seeing an entire concept come together after months of planning. I get a great sense of pride seeing an event I have planned and managed from the start, running smoothly on the day and being a success.
Does an influencer marketing plan really add value for brands?
There is lots of value to be taken from working with influencers. So many consumers base their purchase decisions on influencer reviews as they are often more relatable than brands, and they will always be brutally honest. More and more consumers shop online via social media too, so if an influencer has a swipe-up link and can offer discount codes, it makes the shopping experience even better.
Do you have a favourite social media campaign that has really stood out to you?
The Heineken ‘Worlds Apart’ campaign is one of my favourites. It was released in 2017, but it’s still really relevant today. It makes the very apt point that we shouldn’t judge each other based on what we think we know about that person. Check it out here, it’s definitely worth a watch.
If you could work with any brand in the world, which one would it be?
That’s a tough one, as there are so many brands that I love but the one that springs to mind first is The Body Shop. I’ve always loved their brand authenticity and what they stand for. They have recently introduced a reusable bottle service in their stores, which I think solidifies their commitment to being an environmentally mindful brand.
